About JL Cederblom
JL Cederblom is a Los Angeles–based photographer, journalist, and visual storyteller who helps people and organizations share their work with the world.
Her career has taken her backstage with musicians, into artists' studios, onto working farms, and into communities across the country and abroad. Along the way, she's photographed commercial campaigns, documented cultural events, interviewed artists, and worked with organizations doing everything from environmental restoration to community education.
What connects these projects is curiosity. JL loves getting to know how things work, asking questions, digging into research, and finding the stories that aren't always obvious at first glance.
With a background in photography, journalism, creative production, and land-based research, she approaches each assignment with more than a camera. She works to understand what her clients are trying to accomplish, who they need to reach, and what stories or images could help them get there.
Her photography and writing have appeared in international fashion and music publications, newspapers, and independent magazines. Her work ranges from live music and commercial photography to long-form documentary projects and editorial features.
Today, JL works with artists, businesses, nonprofits, and mission-driven organizations to create photography and stories they can put to work. Whether that's helping a musician promote a new release, documenting a program's impact for potential funders, introducing a community to the people behind a local business, or building a visual record of a project over time, her goal is to create work that serves a purpose beyond the photograph itself.
She believes good storytelling begins with listening, and that understanding what someone is working toward is just as important as knowing what to photograph.
